BORBET FOCUSES ON REGIONAL CLOSENESS TO NATURE
150 TREES FOR THE LOCAL FOREST
Last week, the industrial-technical BORBET trainees (m/f/d) planted a total of 150 seedlings in the Hesborn church forest on the Bollerberg under the expert guidance of forestry technician Eric Kroll and Wilhelm Brandenburg, a retired forester. The aim of the project is to promote biodiversity in the transition zones and to create a stable forest edge that will protect the forest behind it from strong winds and storms in the future.
At the beginning, the trainees were given an introduction to the importance of the forest edge and the characteristics of the three tree species planted - red oak, walnut and sweet chestnut. After an explanation of the various planting techniques and the necessary tools, they got straight down to work and planted the saplings as a team.
The campaign was made possible by a special sustainability approach: BORBET has been operating its own beehive at the Medebach site since spring 2023. The proceeds from the sale of honey to employees went towards financing the seedlings - a symbolic contribution from nature for nature.
"Nature conservation and regional commitment are core values for BORBET," explains Mrs Margot Borbet, Chairwoman of the BORBET Foundation Board. "As a hunter, my husband Peter Wilhelm Borbet has always been very close to nature and has always been committed to the local forest and its protection. The effects of storms like Kyrill and the consequences of increasing drought show how important it is to take action locally to protect and strengthen our forests. With projects like this planting campaign, we as a company want to play our part in preserving and promoting local forests."
This campaign is another example of BORBET's commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Sustainability characterises our actions - today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
