We rely on regular assessments by external bodies to make the continuous optimisations in the course of the BORBET strategy "Avoid instead of compensate" measurable.

We recently had ourselves assessed again by EcoVadis. The sustainability platform assessed our corporate responsibility on topics such as sustainable procurement, the environment and ethics and awards symbolic medals (platinum, gold, silver and bronze). We were able to significantly increase our score once again this year, achieving our best result to date and receiving a gold award for the second time in a row. This puts BORBET in the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis.

BORBET recently set an important milestone with the certification of Aluminium Stewardship (ASI). The company is the first wheel manufacturer in the world to be successfully certified by the ASI in sustainable production, procurement and management of aluminium with a focus on material stewardship.

Den 1.000 Euro Spendenscheck überreichte die Geschäftsleitung und der Betriebsrat der BORBET Thüringen GmbH am 6. Januar an die Kinderhospiz Mitteldeutschland gGmbH in Nordhausen, vertreten durch Marcus Köhler.

Initiiert wurde die Spendenaktion durch den Betriebsrat der BORBET Thüringen GmbH. Betriebsratsvorsitzender Dirk Schirrmacher appellierte an die Spendenbereitschaft der Belegschaft für den guten Zweck.

„Unsere Kolleginnen und Kollegen verfolgen seit vielen Jahren den Aufbau des Kinderhospizes in unserer Region und die aufopferungsvolle Arbeit der Mitarbeitenden vor Ort. Sie geben jeden Tag ihr Bestes, um schwerkranken Kindern und deren Familien eine der Situation entsprechend angenehme Zeit mit schönen Momenten zu bereiten“, erklärt Schirrmacher, wie es zur Spendenidee kam. Insgesamt spendete die Belegschaft rund 500 Euro.

Dr. Claus-Michael Honsel, Geschäftsführer der BORBET Thüringen GmbH war begeistert über die Initiative seiner Mitarbeiter und verdoppelte die Spendensumme. „Wir freuen uns, dass in der Weihnachtszeit dank der Spendenbereitschaft unserer Belegschaft eine solche Summe zustande kam. Diese stocken wir gerne auf 1.000 Euro auf“, so der Geschäftsführer.

The scenario was planned by the Medebach volunteer fire brigade in consultation with the plant manager, the production manager and the fire safety officer at BORBET. Thanks to the long-standing partnership, the training of the emergency services and their knowledge of the local conditions on the factory premises are constantly being refreshed.

After assessing the overall situation, two attack teams wearing breathing apparatus entered the artificially fogged 1st floor. There they searched for the four missing persons, represented by members of the youth fire brigade. The rescued persons were taken outside on stretchers for first aid.

While the people were still being rescued, the volunteer firefighters were surprised by another scenario that Chief Fire Inspector Klaus Schnellen had planned. A person was trapped under a forklift truck in the production area. The casualty, in this case a training dummy, was freed using lifting bags, a hydraulic spreader and support material.

After the operation, Herbert Kordes, head of the Medebach volunteer fire brigade, held an initial meeting with all the firefighters and the people responsible at BORBET.

Overall, everyone involved was satisfied with the rehearsed emergencies, but agreed at the end: "We hope that we will never have to apply the knowledge and experience gained in a real emergency."
